Rudi Giuliani’s Empathetic Hits

Giuliani1Ok people. This type of posting is not customary for us, but it was too funny to neglect. Don’t get me wrong: we all appreciate what then-mayor Giuliani did for NYC after 9/11, but that doesn’t mean we can’t poke a little fun at his hilarious verbal ramblings. Reportedly–last night, at a fundraiser for republican NY gubernatorial candidate John Faso, a crazy lady ran onto the stage and began to rant-off a speech about 9/11. Thank god Rudy Giuliani was there to calm the lady down. In response to the episode, Ben Smith from the News’ reported, ‘whatever else you think of Rudy Giuliani, he’s really a master when it comes to the lunatics, who oddly seem to bring out his public empathy like nothing else.’ Damn straight Ben! In honor of Rudy’s ‘public empathy,’ lets take a look at some of his Empathetic Hits from a few years ago–I hadn’t seen these before, but I am sure glad Gawker directed me to them. I’ll start you off with a hilarious one–this was Mayor Giuliani’s response to one of his radio listeners who was upset about NYC’s ban on ferrets (yes, a ferret is a small, rat-looking animal; and yes, the ban created a big hoopla in NYC): ‘there is something deranged about you … this excessive concern with little weasels is a sickness … you should go consult a psychologist or a psychiatrist with this excessive concern, how you are devoting your life to weasels. You need somebody to help you. There are people in this city and in this world that need a lot of help. Something has gone wrong with you.’
