JPG Magazine

JPG Magazine is all about “imagemaking without attitude…this isn’t about photo snobbery or pixel wanking.” It’s a photography magazine by and for the people…all of the photographs published in JPG were taken by its readers and submitted via their website, JPGmag.com. Unlike many other photo mags that are tough to get through because they’re chock full of ads and focus half their articles on equipment, JPG is about…well, the photos.

Roughly 75% of the magazine is filled with excellent photography, usually based around a central theme. I picked up last month’s issue for $2.99; the focus on street photography was a great read for any urban photographer. JPG also brings its articles full circle, for example: the single article on equipment was also about a top choice digital camera for street photography (anyone have thoughts on the Ricoh GR Digital?).

Most of JPG’s content is also available at JPGmag.com if you’d like to save a tree or two. You can submit your own work for consideration there as well; I’ll definitely be getting in touch with them soon.
