You Are So Last Year

When it comes to the clothing appetite of my male friends, they tell me they’re happy just subsisting on tees, a choice I don’t dog but envy. Most dudes will never have to encounter the aggravating situation of fighting with a tube top that refuses to stay up…but then again, we girls don’t have to deal with having the choice between only pants or shorts, so I guess we’re even. However, I’m so pumped on You Are So Last Year‘s fall update showing recent designs of commissioned retro tees that I’m finding good reason to buy and alter them to fit me (you can’t get more ’80s than a tube top!). They’re new rave-ish, full of Bigfoot-sized images dripping with juicy lips, crawling with a fresh leopard print or flaunting ghoulish, pulp-fiction freakouts. There’s even a bright purple shirt done for Johnny Cupcakes of a pink dinosaur riding a skateboard that I swear someone in my 2nd grade class had. YASLY is actually the online portfolio of one guy, Danny Jones, who shows off samples of type and print work he did for clients like Reef and Adio alongside the apparel selections, which are worth a gander. But back to the shirts — you’ll have to hit up each featured brand’s site separately to hunt these mack daddies down.
