Trofeu Gameworld: Sao Paulo

Posted on May 9, 2007 Under Gadgetry

Tonight will mark an important time for video games in Brazil. Fifty-thousand dedicated gaming fans have voted for their favorite 2006 games, and the winners will be announced at the 3rd Annual Trofeu Gameworld event — the largest of its kind in the country — this evening at rock club Clash in the Barra Funda area. For the first time in its history, the event will be open to the public, who will get the rare opportunity to mingle alongside gaming magazine editors and writers and industry heads. Trophies will be awarded in 22 different categories, from Game of the Year to console-specific prizes. After the awards are presented, the audience will be treated to a performance from Mega Driver, a Brazilian heavy metal band whose tunes are inspired by video game music (it’s called “Game Metal”, apparently) and DJ Guab.
