Project Litmus

Jason Bruges has created “four interactive sculptures that act as giant litmus papers, sensing and responding to a variety of environmental stimuli, such as daylight, wind, and tides in the riverside area”. These interactive sculptures are placed in the London Borough of Havering and tower 12 meters high. They’re built of steel frames and acrylic structures–with an array of LED pixels. The sculptures will no doubt generate questions like, what do all these numbers mean..? One of the southern towers displays the power generated by the neighboring wind turbine while the northern tower counts and displays the amount of traffic entering in the area. Interesting to see more interactive art installations popping up– each sensitive to something in its surroundings and environment.
