Perplex and Lola

I really love the design and fashion work by Milan from Perplex & Lola. They do excellent work molding ironic social and political commentary with unique fashion. “Perplex & Lola was presented for the first time in Shanghai in March of 2004 during the China Cup 2004 International Fashion Design, the Perplex & Lola’s “kouture” collection explores the theme of the powerful social and cultural transformation experienced by the youth of the easter bloc during the last years of communist regime. The tranquil revolution that took place first int he minds and hearts for the people and culminated with the fall of the Berlin wall, saw the clash of the socialist propaganda and the highly Americanized pop-culture coming from the west”. Young and experimental designer Milan Tanedjikov found this as an avenue for self expression. The collection available on his site represents a step towards increased individuality as it depends the search for personal style. “Rock n’ Roll coexists with Marxist”…. I got some samples of their t-shirt line “AWAKE”, poking fun at propaganda– they’re really wonderful–I’ll be sharing them on here soon.
