Mojizu: Character Design Network

Posted on July 18, 2006 Under Life

What do you think of when I say the word Nintendo? Mario perhaps? What about Sega? Sonic the Hedgehog, right? When you think about it, there are so many icons that are usually simple and easy to remember, yet represent volumes of emotions, feelings, and memories. A good character design is able to garner immediate recognition no matter where it is seen. Unfortunately, being seen is the hardest step. Enter Mojizu, a community where character designers can convene, meet and share their designs with each other and the world, and maybe make a few bucks while they’re at it. It is the first forum dedicated specifically to character design, showcasing the talents of skilled artists that otherwise would not get the recognition they deserve. Put aside some time and take a good look at the site. You’ll see pixel characters (icons/avatars), line art monsters, and even 3D sculpted creatures. Maybe after, you’ll be inspired to dust off your Wacom and submit a few yourself. We’ve been told there are plenty of new exciting features coming soon.
