Mathias Bengtsson combines 3-D modeling, laster cutting, and some bad ass hand crafting techniques to create an organic looking piece of functional art. This chair was modeled by hand, then digitized by a computer, and then “sliced”. “The resulting shape is mapped onto aluminum, corrugated cardboard or plywood sheet (shown here), which is cut accordingly. When the stack is re-assembled, the chair is formed, looking like a kind of symmetrical erosions.
