JoshSpear.com Redesigned!

Posted on May 7, 2006 Under Life

After blogging for more than two years with the the same system and site design I felt it was time for change. So, what’s new?

Comments: In the past, allowing comments was nearly impossible due to the overwhelming amount of spam out there. I was hesitant to turn comments back on but I know my readers have great things to share, so with new spam-combating plugins, I’m willing to try again. If they’re abused, I’ll be forced to turn them off so please treat this feature with respect.

Geo Locator: With the huge amount of traveling I’ve been doing to keep this site fresh, it might be fun for everyone to follow my travels a bit and get an idea of where I’m currently writing and hunting. If you're close by or know the area where the new locator indicates I am, please send me your tips. The launch of this new feature is sponsored by Malaysia Airlines, one of the few 5 Star airlines in the world. By the time you read this I’ll be on my way to Taiwan riding high in their wide bodied airplanes.

WordPress 2.0: After running on a very quirky back end for what felt like an eternity, I’ve transitioned the entire site to WordPress, a more evolved technology than the one I was using previously. I’m thoroughly impressed with version 2.0 and have a lot of plans for new expansion and features.

I hope you find these changes useful and the redesign refreshing. I welcome all of your comments and feedback.

High five to my new friends at GROW Interactive who meticulously designed and coded this new site. Awesome, guys — truly outstanding. (More on them soon!)

Thanks for your continued support. Keep your eyes peeled for updates from Asia and beyond!
