Jose Parla has a show coming up at Bryce Wolkowitz Gallery in NYC called Walls, Diaries, and Paintings– a solo exhibition by the Brooklyn-based artist. As a collector for several years now I am excited to see some of his new work.

Walls, Diaries, and Paintings features fifteen new paintings, that chronicle Parlá’s exploration of the diverse places and cultures he has traversed. From Istanbul to Havana, from Tokyo to New York, the colors and textures of the neighborhoods and alleyways have found a forceful and moving resolution in Parlá’s works that are both inspirational and revealing.

A new monograph of José Parlá’s work, Walls, Diaries, and Paintings, will be available upon the exhibition’s opening. Published by Hatje Cantz, it includes essays by Isolde Brielmaier, Greg Tate, & Michael Betancourt. Available here for pre-order for $50.

The show opens with a reception on March 3rd and runs through April 16th. The gallery is located at 505 West 24th Street.
