Jellyfish Stool

Many were showing their talent for the intricate and unique at the Milan Furniture Fair 2006, but it was Kota Nezu, with his Jellyfish Stool, that caught my eye. The former Toyota car designer came together with Paul Lighterness, Kaoru Tsukamoto, and Kei Yamamoto to form Co/Ex, which came together for their entry into the Salone Satellite. Kota's Jellyfish is constructed of steel, acrylic, and aluminum and contains a film of water and an LED which, when plugged into an audio source, pulses to the sound of music, displaying the shadowy ripples below the stool. A hybrid of seating and visual display, the jellyfish really feels the beat!
