Gary Panter Custom Drawing

Posted on November 29, 2007 Under Art

You might not know punk comic father Gary Panter if you don’t run in the circles where geeking out to comics is an essential form of entertainment, but you definitely know his work: Panter used to be head designer for the wild, psychedelic sets on Pee-Wee’s Playhouse. Yep, that memorable, visual genius came from this ’60s, ’70s and ’80s artist. For a short time only, the revered Panter will draw you your very own custom illustration in ink on a topic you suggest and mail it to you so you can brag to all your friends about it in the next comic book meet-up. All for only 225 buckaroos instead of the thousands you could otherwise never afford without selling your dad’s entire vintage comics collection. This is peanuts for a piece by an underground legend who redefined comics with his coarse, singular style that led to the creation of the influential Jimbo comic book series in the ’60s, record covers for Frank Zappa and a seminal history of illustrations. Get acquainted with his work here, if you haven’t already studied him in Pop Culture 101.
