Es Gibt

Chinatown, NYC based es gibt is a collaborative design project started by Shu Hung and Joe Magliaro. They were founded in Spring 2004, after a trip to Berlin. During the trip they were inspired by the “Do it yourself” spirit of many of the artists and shop owners there who were making and selling their own work from small store fronts. They sell a quality line of t-shirts, and some accessories like laptop bags and pillows. The intricate designs on the t-shirts are all hand illustrated and screen printed, and then enzyme washed for extra softness–and of course the shirts are all limited editions. They say one of their biggest inspirations are people, and what they spend their time learning, thinking and obsessing about–and they started a lecture series, giving people a place to talk about things that inspired them or fascinated them.
