Brooks Salzwedel

Brooks Salzwedel is an illustrator, artist and talented designer whose inspiration comes from the books that he finds at thrift stores—50’s handyman books, life magazines, as well as nature and science books. He tells me he is really into books on plants–and as you can see they made their way into his artwork. He’s interested in the behavior of relationships, family, or friends–the characters in his work are usually picked out of photos, sometimes random ones from flea markets. His interest in materials other than boring ol’ paint has brought him into a line of some really stellar belt buckles and accessories.
