BARKITECTURE

I stopped by BARKITECTURE here in Boulder at the Design Within Reach store on Sunday night. BARKITECTURE was a fundraiser setup by Ryan Bath from DWR– his store hosted a dozen or so ‘designer’ dog houses made by local designers and architects. Each group was asked to keep the costs below $1000 and make their houses ecologically sustainable. They were all on display and up for auction, it was a lot of fun. The auctions biggest seller went for $550, The “Dog’s Dream Trailer”, which looked like an old Airstream trailer (right). On the left was one of the more modern designs–equally as bad ass. It was a nice sized party with over 200 humans and 25 or so canines passing by throughout the night. The five highest bid on dog houses will be displayed at the Boulder Museum of Contemporary art through November 6th.
