Andres Sandoval

Even though artist Andres Sandoval‘s academic background lies in architecture and urban studies, this Brazilian has made illustration the name of his game. He’s starring as part of a group exhibit in Sao Paulo’s Canto Gravura gallery, alongside class favorite Apo Fousek, where he’s got delicate hand-drawn papercrafts painted in watercolor on display. They look a little like robots with lots of oddly placed appendages, waiting to walk off the shelf and into an animated reality. But the stuff of imagination isn’t such a far jaunt for Sandoval; he’s illustrated books too, like the award-winning children’s book Amazonia: Legends of the Amazon River, creating fantastic worlds for text to live in. All of his work is so consistently good that trying to find a picture to run with this post from the Cracker Jack box of prizes on his site took me longer than writing it. Procrastinate from your Tuesday work a little more and head there now.
