Americana

It’s clearly America week, so you can be darn proud of it (again) wherever you are in the world. Sao Paulo’s Choque Cultural kicked off an incredible Americana exhibit this weekend featuring some precious legendary names through their ever-growing partnership with Jonathan Levine Gallery: Tara McPherson, Jim Houser, Doze Green and Adam Wallacavage. McPherson made over 10 new works just for the show, Doze Green and Houser created spectacular installations, and Wallacavage perfectly incorporated his surreal octopus chandeliers into the spot’s basement “aquarium.” The opening ended with a party that went on past 4 a.m. at the gallery office’s new digs and was filled with people mixing English and Portuguese into their conversations; both sides feeling truly elated in sharing a cross-cultural moment. Check the gallery’s website to see all the works on display.
